Sheer Genius

Let's face it. The shelf life for tights is nothing to write home about, whether you've invested in luxurious brands like Wolford, or cracked open an egg-shaped container from the supermarket. Sooner or later, those runs are bound to creep up on you.. Literally! So when we came across this article from Refinery 29, we couldn't help but swoon! No longer are short shorts and mini skirts relegated strictly to summer. (We love a good trick to maximize wardrobe wear!)

"To satiate your taste for high hems, Pique, a new subscription service, has created an easy way to keep your drawers stocked with beautiful luxury stockings...Once you complete a brief style quiz, Pique curates a collection of tights, socks, and leggings that fits your tastes. Go-Green Gift Wrapping

Get gifted in style this season, and act eco-chic in the process! While Rachel Zoe's fab collab with One King's Lane might seem enticing, let the pages of your choice mag (Mine? Vogue, of course!) serve as the sweater for all your gift giving. Not only will Elms and Spruces alike be grateful, but creating your own gift wrapping paper adds a personal  high-fashion (!) touch. With wrapping this ahh-mazing, who cares what's inside...

Classic Combo

Nothing nouveau, yet always in vogue, shirt and skirt combos are so versatile and super feminine (my favorite!) Caution though: aim for originality to keep ensemble from looking stiff and trite. Pairing non-traditional pieces to create unexpected silhouettes is key. When this classic combo is diversified, it traverses the lines between boring 'girl-next-door' and ultra avant garde!

Climate Control

It's safe to say that a cooler climate is here to stay (for a while, anyway!) One perk of being a stylist is finding function within fashion. Enter: Long Johns! Don a svelte pant suit over hidden thermals, and save face on your suave ensemble without sacrificing-- Beauty doesn't have to be (frostbitten) pain!

the Glamour of Giving

The winds are quieting down and Hurricane Sandy is on her way out, yet destruction and turmoil is left behind. Many neighborhoods and families were adversely affected by the storm and are in need of assistance. For those of us fortunate enough to have emerged safeguarded, helping others is an essential component in overcoming the aftermath. Several organizations offer volunteer positions. If you can, take part in the relief efforts and do a good deed... Helping others is ALWAYS in style!

Fine-Herb and Goat Cheese Omelet

When chilly temps and stormy weather sweep through the city (not to mention a record breaking storm!) one cannot help feeling dismal and gloomy. Enter: comfort food. This recipe is a cinch and will work wonders distracting a damsel in distress. Light up some tapers and voila--instant upper!

Recipe:
(serves two)

* 4 organic brown eggs
* 1 tbs light butter
* 1 tbs fresh herbs (equal parts fresh chervil, chives parsley, and tarragon roughly chopped)
* 2 tbs crumbled chèvre
* pinch freshly ground white pepper and salt to taste

Heat butter in a sauté pan on medium heat until small bubbles start to form. Pour egg mixture into the pan, allowing a white layer to form at the bottom as it heats. Sprinkle in fresh herbs and crumbled goat cheese. Let eggs continue cooking, about 2-3 minutes, or until eggs are no longer runny.
Remove from heat and gently slide omelet onto a serving platter, garnishing with freshly chopped chives.

Storm Supplies

A day sans internet is utterly unthinkable in our modern day. With iPhone 5 eternally glued in hand, iPad constantly a-click, a glam gal could go mad with nary a shoe to shop! Alas, with Sandy en route, it seems such a dire fate is sure to befall us.

Fear not, for here are some ultra-chic activities to help you weather any storm!

Indulge: Drowning in our bucket lists of every day life, how often are we awarded a moment of relaxation? Carpe Diem and hop in a tub by candle light! Lather up in Tom Ford's Neroli Portofino bath bar, as hints of Diptyque 'Baies' fill the air.

Reflect: Rather than jotting down endless to-do's, put your inner most thoughts and inspiration to paper via Smythson's Mara Soho Diary. Taking the time to reflect is a fab way to unwind and re-center your focus on the positive aspects of life. Transcribe happiness by writing down three things you are happy/ grateful for. Putting things into perspective helps us realize how blessed we truly are!

Revamp: A power outage is no excuse for unpolished digits. In fact, it's the perfect time for a mani-pedi.. If you have glow-in-the-dark polish, that is! Recharge your look with American Apparel's three luminous polishes and show Sandy who's queen of the dark.

Reconnect: the concept may seem très vintage, what with all our iPhone apps and cyber-space game rooms, but board games are a fabulous way to reconnect with loved ones. Check out this ultra adorbs (and portable!) Backgammon Set by El Casco.

Ultra Face-Framers

"What's the latest on the Fall accessory front," you might ask? Dazzling danglers, of course! After pining over Emily Maynards wide array of geode, crystal, funky and fab drop earrings, I put my detective skills to the test rounding up the best of the best of Autumn's ultra embellished must-have pieces. Instantly taking your look from drab to fab, take a cue from the ultra chic Edie, and let these shoulder dusters speak for themselves as a statement all their own!

Of-the-Moment Muse

Bursting out bombshell after bombshell ensemble, who better than Miranda Kerr to swoon over this fall, as she exudes the epitome of ultra femininity and model behavior. Ever the entrepreneur, this muti-tasking muse/mama not only serves as one-to-watch in the style department, she additionally heads the company KORA Organics, specializing in plant derived skin-care products, rich in anti oxidants and essential oils. (Perhaps, the secret to that radiant Aussie glow revealed?) Currently obsessing these trendsetting threads... Cheers, mate!

{Why it Works: A pretty print and demure dress silhouette counter-balance the sexiness of fierce footwear, yet allow them to steels the show. A muted toned bag adds just a hint of color to keep her duds from feeling too drab}
 {Why it Works: Keep couture casual-chic by pairing designer denim with florals and flats. Simple and sophisticated.}
 {Why it Works: Here, an edgy denim jacket and funky shades dodge being cast as 'too out-there' via feminine frock and tamed tresses. The key to keeping 'edgy' retro-glam, whilst straying from 'crazy-town' is by incorporating femme features-- heels (in this case, booties) are a MUST!}
{Why it Works: merchandising a bright day dress with statement heels keeps the look contemporary yet nods at feminine elegance}
{Why it Works: It's all in the attitude!}

Falling into Fall

 {Ralph Lauren sunnies, vintage dress, Missoni belt, Louis Vuitton bag, Zara flats, Essie 'wicked' nails, Lancome 'mauvelous velvet' lips}

Alas, the final days of summer are upon us. The Fashion Week frenzy of Spring/Summer is dying down and a new sartorial mood is setting in. With Autumn come earlier dusks, deeper richer hues (think midnight blue, dark plum, rusty red..) and the much coveted Pumpkin Spice Latte! This dress is a great transitional piece, incorporating light floral elements over a deep navy. The velvet flats lend the ensemble that extra push into winter's realm, and compliments the velvety texture of the mauve lipstick. Even my tresses are sporting a darker shade of chocolate brown in anticipation of chillier months to come. Here's to cozy nights by the fireplace, tucked under a fav cashmere throw, Vogue in hand, of course!

Cameo Comeback

{Ralph Lauren sunnies, BB Dakota lace top, J.Crew chambray shirt, Zara shorts, Michael Kors bag, Dolce Vita sandals, jewelry: antique Cameo, I. Magnin lock watch (seen here) Nikki B 3 tone gold bracelet}

I've been spotting these femme figures everywhere lately, so I managed to rustle up this one up from the bottom of my jewelry box. Originally admired as objets d'art, Cameos combine runway and ready-to-wear, instantly glamorizing any ensemble! Lesson to be learned: never toss out your hidden treasures!

Top That

{Hat: unknown but similar here and here, BB Dakota lace top, vintage dress, vintage belt, Dolce Vita sandals, J.Crew pouch}

There are a mere few days left of summer, and that means squeezing in some last few Hamptons jaunts, and wearing my wide brim topper before switching over to floppy felts! Have a wonderful (sunny) weekend!

Feeling Blue

{Ralph Lauren sunnies, vintage dress, Zara sandals, J.Crew pouch, vintage calf hair belt, jewelry: J.Crew, Nordstrom, vintage, Nikki B, Roberto Coin}

I bought this dress at my favorite consignment shop and have been living in it ever since.. It's light, breezy, and most of all, gorgeous! I love the gold polka dots inlaid over the floral pattern. It adds an extra dimension, which you only see in those one-of-a-kind vintage gems. The parasol was a must-have item I had spotted in Israel (seen here), which my sister was gracious enough to bring back for me (thanks, Lali!).
